Executive Director Appointment
We are excited to share the news that Jemi Kostiner Mansfield has been appointed as Congregation Shaarie Torah’s next Executive Director. She will join us in early March.
Congregation Shaarie Torah’s Board of Directors selected Jemi following a national search that attracted a pool of talented candidates, among 30 or so applicants. Jemi’s deep knowledge of all facets of synagogue management, her community experience, and her passion for Judaism and our Portland community made her a standout candidate. We believe that she has the skills, energy and commitment needed to successfully lead Shaarie Torah forward.
Jemi brings over two decades of work experience in the Portland Jewish community to her role at Shaarie Torah, as well as lifelong personal involvement. Since 2015, Jemi has been the Director of Spiritual Life at Cedar Sinai Park. From 1992 to 2015, she served in a variety of roles at Congregation Beth Israel, most recently as Congregational Affairs Director and, prior to that, as Education and Life Cycle Administrator. Jemi, who has a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from the University of California, Los Angeles, grew up as part of Jewish Portland and in fact graduated from Hillel Academy (the predecessor to Portland Jewish Academy), then housed at Shaarie Torah.
“I am honored and excited to begin work as the Executive Director of Congregation Shaarie Torah,” Jemi says. “It feels like home already, and I can’t wait to work with the Board, staff, volunteers and congregants to help the synagogue flourish and continue to grow.”
