CST's Constitution Revision
Dear CST Kehillah,
We want to thank everyone who attended the Constitution Review & Vote meeting on July 15th. This was the culmination of nearly two years of review, discussion, town halls, and numerous comments submitted from many of you. PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT MESSAGE BELOW.
Just prior to the meeting, it was brought to the Board’s attention that a procedural step was overlooked as required by our current Constitution: Written notice of a “Special Meeting to Convene” must be mailed to the Congregation in advance by the Secretary. The Board acknowledges that this notice was sent only electronically and did not follow the procedure outlined in our current Constitution.
Therefore, I am providing this notice of an additional Constitution Review & Vote meeting on August 12, 2026, at 6pm, in-person in the Social Hall. RSVP is required in advance.
This meeting will only be held if there is a quorum of those who did not attend the July 15th meeting or who have already submitted their absentee vote.
Additionally, at the July 15th meeting, we opted to vote Article by Article rather than on the Constitution as a whole. We want to afford everyone the same opportunity to place a Yea/Nay/Abstention vote on each Article whether by attending in-person on August 15th or by absentee vote.
What does this mean for you?
• If you did not attend the July 15th meeting, you are still eligible to vote and invited to attend this meeting (members in good standing only).
• Because the original notice was not provided via USPS in writing, we are required to consider all prior absentee votes and in-person votes as proxy votes until the procedure can be corrected with a written mailed letter (as stated above).
• If you attended the meeting on July 15th, you do not need to attend the meeting on August 12th. NOTE: This allows you an opportunity to change your vote if you wish to do so – please email me directly and I will confidentially update your tally, per Article.
• If you voted absentee in advance of the July 15th meeting and wish to update your vote Article by Article, you are welcome to do so – please email me directly and I will confidentially update your tally, per Article.
• All FINAL votes whether updated, absentee or in-person, are due no later than August 12th by emailing Jemi or Melissa. By doing so your votes will be kept confidential.
The proposed amendments to the constitution and the red-lined version can be accessed using the buttons below or by emailing Andrea or Jemi. Please let us know if you need clarification on any of the Articles as you review your votes.
Once again, thank you for your attention to this important matter for Shaarie Torah.
B’shalom,
Melissa Cohen, Board Secretary
